a little bit of life | ed.3
/You can find my kitchen like the photos below nearly ever single day of the week. The final photos I show on the blog may be slightly misleading.
They’re shiny + clean and typically void of crumbs, drips, and spills.
Unlike the tornado you’ll find 2 steps behind me.
Yes, that is a giant bottle of vodka below and a box of wine above. No, I wasn’t day drinking, although tempting.
On this particular day I was working on foolproof vegan coconut cream ice cream [coming soon!] and the cheesy veggie taco millet bake featured last week.
I don’t clean as I go. I find it nearly impossible to do so. I leave cupboard doors open. I leave drawers open. Crumbs live in my drawers. Little bits of food cover my floor and are vacuumed on the daily. My counters are caked in oil, sugar, flour, you name it. My fridge is not neat + tidy.
Socks are abandoned from stepping in sticky substances that meet my floor. Bare feet are punctured with crumbs. Hands are cracked from hot water + dish soap.
Messes are made and cleaned and made again.
There are recipe fails and lots of trial + error, like with my recent brownies.
The mess and experimenting are the backstory.
This is my norm.
And I kind of love it.
The shiny photos and recipes you see are the leftovers. Maybe I should show the backstory more often? Don’t worry, I’ll leave my dirty socks out of the frame next time.
What’s your kitchen norm?
