ten things tuesday
/#1. Saturday was a nap-taking sort of day.
I would have included a photo of myself napping but the dogs are much cuter.
#2. Saturday was also a market day. A favorite Saturday event!
There is a florist at the market who I absolutely adore! Her arrangements are vintage, colorful, and just plain fun.
Crisp wavy cucumbers + delicious heirloom tomatoes.
Colorado peaches are in season!!! I only ever buy the “seconds.” Basically, they’re half off and supposed to come bearing bruises. These did not.
3lbs of organic local peaches for $5
Yes.
#3. New food photography table which cost a whopping $19.99 at Ikea. My current table was a heavy glass end table that was way too small and annoying to maneuver. This table is much larger, lightweight, and even has a shelf to store props.
#4. Whoa baby. Definitely bought this with a 50% off 1 bakeware item coupon at Michaels. A loaf of doughnut?? My head may just explode.
#5. New spatula to add to my still-in-the-making vintage cookware wall.
Dakota approved.
$4!!
#6. Leave me alone for 5 days and I’ll definitely make a few messes. Chris was out of town on a backpacking trip.
Leave me alone for 5 days and I’ll also definitely freak out every single night. Having all of the windows open doesn’t help but with no A/C they must stay open. The dogs could sense my worry and were more on edge which meant they were grumbling + barking at every noise they heard. This only made me freak out more. Oy.
#7. I may make messes but I also clean them up. I switched the locations of our bookshelves and weeded out a bunch of old books. This opened up a lot more space for where I take photos.
Dakota was of no help.
New photo table on the left!
#8. Saturday also included a lovely solo bike ride. 20 miles in the 90* heat at 9am. The heat isn’t half as bad on a bike!
Beautiful view but the brown you see on the mountains was all caused from the crazy fires in June.
#9. Super quick + easy office DIY project.
I’ve been looking for file/document holders like you see below. However, I didn’t want to spend $10 a pop on them. So instead I bought 5 for $1.99 at Ikea and then added a few little touches.
They definitely look very boring + cheap.
Time to chalkboard paint! I got the idea from CB2. They sell the same thing! I’m sure they’re a bit heavier duty, but I think these will hold up just fine.
[and yes, there is GRAY [and mint green!] chalkboard paint…this is new to me!]
A few coats + an hour later they were done. Custom file/document holders that you can change whenever you want. I know I’ll need to add quite a few more to the collection as these fill up, which is why I went with this super cheap option.
The ??? holder will soon be revealed!!
#10. When Chris got home he was checking out the blog to see what I cooked up while he was away.
The first thing he said was…”where are myyy tacossss??”
You don’t have to twist my arm to make these again. Prepped + cooked in 35 minutes with only a cutting board, a knife, and a few plates to clean. Favorite summer meal of 2012. It’s been decided.
I tried to make extra for leftovers but there’s not a scarp in sight.
Sleep time!
