weekend by iphone
/Finally, finally I got an iphone! After never owning an ipod or smart phone of any kind, this is a big deal! The last + only mp3 player I ever had, was purchased as a freshman in college. It was a Nike mp3 player that I could wear around my arm. It had an astonishing 32mb of storage space! Do you know how much music that holds? About 30min. Pretty good for HALF a workout! So, 10 years later, I finally caught up with technology. The $50 coupon I had, and birthday money helped the cause. So far, I’m thoroughly enjoying it, and trying to not become addicted. So far so good!
Anywho…
On to the weekend!
Chris had an insanely busy week at work, so when he got home Friday, we headed to the breweries by bike.
The lovely Kelsey + Eric joined in the fun. We stopped at Ft. Collins Brewery + Odell.
I enjoyed 2, 1/2 pints.
Love beer, don’t love hangovers!
Saturday morning, I headed to the market by foot, per usual. It’s about 3/4m away from our house, which I just love.
Gorgeous flowers everywhere.
Amazing, almost fake looking, pastries.
And something I’m extremely excited about.
Colorado peaches are finally in season!!!! Right now they are a little tart, but in the next few weeks they’ll get bigger + sweeter. Nothing beats a CO peach. I swear! You have to eat these over the sink, as they are a huge juicy mess!
I picked up a loaf of fresh, fluffy sourdough for Chris this week. Last week I tried a very hearty, wheaty sourdough to see if I could tolerate it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. I’m giving this loaf a shot because it’s wasn’t the hearty-wheat type. I ate a small piece yesterday and so far so good. It usually hits in 24hrs, so we shall see! [I’m intolerant to gluten, but beer doesn’t bother me. It’s fermented and has a much lower gluten content because of that. Sourdough bread is also fermented, so I’m testing to see if I can tolerate it.]
After the market, we headed out for a dog training session.
I’ll talk about this a little more in detail soon, but we started taking the dogs to a training specialist. They have had 2 private sessions now and are in a 6 week training class with other dogs.
After the very first private session, I can’t even tell you what a difference we saw. We were handling the dogs all wrong.
Now we’ve completed 2 private sessions and 1 class and it’s like we have new dogs. Seriously. We can walk them with a completely loose leash and they stay behind us. We can walk them together. We have control over them.
The dogs are happier.
We are happier.
It’s been pretty amazing. A huge weight off our shoulders and a sigh of relief.
Worth every penny!
We can’t wait to be able to finally take them hiking + camping.
After dog training, we headed out to REI on our single speed bikes. It’s about 5-6 miles each way and a great workout on a single speed bike! Single speeds have no gears to adjust the resistance, unlike road bikes.
Did I mention it was 100*? HOT, but super fun!
After REI, we showered, still sweating, and headed to Denver for Ali + Hovan’s surprise engagement party!
The festivities were held at Forest Room 5. We had a private room, packed with about 35 people. They have a huge selection of tapas, that everyone seemed to enjoy. I asked our bartender if they had any gluten free options [besides salad] and it turned out he was gluten free! He said he had the kitchen make him veggie tacos earlier that day, and he would have them make the tacos for me too.
They were excellent, and how nice was that??
The interior design of this restaurant was extremely unique. You definitely felt like you were in the forest. I absolutely loved it!
This photo hardly captures it, but how cool is this solid wood table? They had a patio area that was just as amazing.
They were caught EXtremely off guard!! Even when we all yelled surprise, they were confused as to what the surprise was for. After about 5 seconds, someone yelled “happy engagement!!!” and Ali burst out screaming. It was perfection!
Such a great night with the huz + friends!
Ann + me
We’re so happy for Ali + Hovan and cannot wait for their wedding!!

Time for some Sunday dog training, possibly body rock, maybe a walk and cleaning!
Last day of July???
For reals????
Enjoy it!
