Are the candy-coated chocolates on the peanut butter slides vegan? If so, what are they called and where can they be purchased?

Nope! The aren’t vegan, but are naturally colored, unlike m&m’s. I forget the brand, as I got them in the bulk bins. I topped the vegan ones with peanuts as I mentioned in the post. Either way, delicious! If you want the chocolate crunch on top, just use a few chocolate chips.

Sorry Debbie, I’ve never made or had a sticky toffee pudding before, so I’m not sure how to make a healthy version. Wish I knew, because that sounds delicious!

Hi! I was just turned on to your website through a post on Pinterest, and I must say, I LOVE all the recipes I would’ve never thought of on my own. I just finished eating and serving your Chocolate Pnut Butter Banana Scramble, and the review I got from my sis-in-law was that it was “an odd consistency.” I was wondering if you could tell me the kind of consistency I should expect and the serving amounts for both the banana scrambles and the breakfast cookies (like the coco-choco walnut breakfast cookie). Thank you for all the fresh ideas!

Thanks for saying hello! The banana scramble is very soft and dough like on the inside, with a crispy exterior. It’s not firm like a pancake at all. Do you mean how many the recipes serve? Almost all of my breakfast recipes are a 1 person serving, unless otherwise noted.

Before reading your blog, I purchased that awful Arrowhead Mills buckwheat flour. I know you had purchased some a long time ago, before discovering the giant difference between it and fresh ground. Were you ever able to use it up? Do you have any suggestions on how to? I’m thinking the recipes need to be “strong” enough to cover the dirty flavor. Help!

Sorry, had to laugh on this one!!
I didn’t end up using it. I used it in a pizza “crust” recipe, but it was pretty strong. Maybe make savory buckwheat bakes with veggies inside + cheese/salsa on top? The flavor would go much better with veggie flavors. Bah…let me know what you come up with!

I love the recipes that you have on your site but the zesty lime cabbage slaw will not come up on the computer could you please send it to me.
Thanks so much! Janet

Absolutely love your website! I’m totally addicted to your inspiring recipes. However, I have a question for you. I’m a fifteen year old ballerina who is recovering from some eating issues. I’m trying to get my diet back on track, except I feel hungry all the time! Could you possibly post some of your most filling recipes that are easy enough for me to throw together!
Thank you soooo much!!

Thanks so much for saying hi Mary! On my recipe page, you’ll find a slew of breakfast recipes and one of the lists is for oatmeal and buckwheat quick bakes. Those are really easy and quick to put together. Maybe for an upcoming post, I’ll put together a list of my easiest recipes!

Hi Ashley, I love your blog, I have been making your almond and cashew butters, however I haven’t had much success with having them turn out creamy. I am wondering what kind of food processor you use? Mine is old and I wonder if that’s why my results are as good as your pictures. They taste great but aren’t smooth without adding a ton of oil. Could I also use a blender (it’s newer than the food processor).
Thanks a bunch!

Hi April! It is most likely due to having an old food processor. Also, what size are you using? Mine is a Cuisinart 11c and does best with 2-2.5c nuts. If you have a smaller processor, like a 7 or 9c I recommend using about 1.5c nuts. When it’s overstuffed it really is hard to get a smooth consistency. I don’t recommend using your blender, unless it is a high powered vita mix or blendtec and even with my Vita Mix, I haven’t gotten them to turn our as creamy. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your response. I think it’s time for a new food processor!!

Do you have calorie counts for any of your recipes? I saw in your FAQ that you don’t calorie count but do you know any of them for those of us who do?

Sometimes I do talk about the nutritional information, which I calculate using caloriecount.com, but I don’t have a list of recipes that I’ve shown the info for. That site is really easy to use if you want to tally up the calories though. Last week I posted some info for the buckwheat bakes – http://edibleperspective.com/2012/01/protein-stuffed-buckwheat-bakes/

Where do you buy:
coconut butter –> pillowy + sweet
cacao bliss –> chocolate + coconut creaminess
The picture looks so good and I love oatmeal.

I make the coconut butter – http://edibleperspective.com/2010/04/challengesi-love-them/ It’s super easy if you have a food processor! Just make sure you get shredded, unsweetened and that it’s fresh. [sweetened coconut and unsweetened large flakes don't work] The cacao bliss was purchased at Whole Foods. I only bought it once or twice b/c it’s pricey! I know there are recipes for at home versions though. I’m sure a quick google search would pull them up!
I wrote up tips in this post on making nut butter + coconut butter too! http://edibleperspective.com/2011/08/nut-butters-your-questions-answered/
