quickEE [sort of]

Quick post!  I’ve got to get to bed…We’re going snowboarding tomorrow [with Chris’s friend that’s in town from NC] and I can’t fall asleep on the lift like last week!

SIAB day #2!  This one was just okay, but still left me feeling awake + energized!  Yesterday’s bowl was much tastier.

In the mix:

  • 1/3c sweet potato puree [texture good, taste not so much]
  • 2c ice
  • Amazing Grass Green SuperFood [from the samples they sent]
  • 4oz container of Oikos plain
  • 2-3c spinach
  • 1/2 pack vanilla rice protein powder
  • 1T chia seeds
  • 3/4t cinnamon
  • 1/4t ginger
  • 1/4t nutmeg
  • 1/2c rice milk
  • 1/2 banana

Toppings [were awesome!]: BRM Muesli, little granola, and this bagged trail mix I picked up at WF [cran/almond/dk choc] mmmm Crunchy!

With my nerdy science mug o’ joe!

I enjoyed it but was kinda wishing I had a hot bowl of oats!  I was extra chilly this AM.  Ohhh and a new placemat, kind of.  Chris’s schoolwork :)

_MG_1862

Lunch was DEElicious.  I had a huge plate of mixed baby greens, with a large slice of the “Lentil Pie” heated up and broken on top, along with pepitas, cranberries + walnuts.  SO good.  The slight sweetness from the loaf went really well with the salad.  YUM.

Dressing: apple cider vin + balsamic + olive oil + s/p

nom-uh-licious

Aaaand then….maaaaybe thee.best.snack.ever.  Kath had my drooling today from all her coconut product talk.  So I had to whip out my jars that Artisana sent me awhile back! :)   Loooove their products.

Whole wheat toast + fresh ground pnut butter + about 1tsp warmed Cacao Bliss + unsweetened coconut shavings

_MG_1875

Words can’t even describe!  The Cacao Bliss is an amazing blend of cacao + coconut and with a little bit of sweetness.  It tasted amazing with the pnut butter. mmmm  The only thing that could be better is making it a sandwich and adding banana!!! [hmmm breakfast tomorrow? we shall see]

“These are a few of my favorite things….” [I know you know that song]  Thanks for all of my awesomely delicious samples!!!

I am having the hardest time deciding what large container of wheat grass mix to buy.  Do I get the chocolate..this plain one or just the plain old wheat grass?  I still have other to try too!  I found a really yummy treat is mixing the chocolate GreenSuperFood with chocolate milk [whichever kind of milk you drink].

_MG_1900

Lots to do today…needed some afternoon tea.  I’m trying to like tea more…this one is pretty tasty.  Natalie got it for me for xmas.  The flavor is Cacao Goji Berry and it tastes just like you would expect!  I added a little coconut creamer…mmmm  I need a tea with robust flavor.

Since we had company coming I was in a hurry all day.  I had job applying things to do in the morning, then cleaning, laundry, yard work, huge kitchen mess, etc.  I was at it all day long!  Tonight was the first night in a very long time that dinner came partially from the freezer.  However, I think this was acceptable.

Dinner #1

Sunshine Garden Herb veggie burger.  I have tried Morningstar and whatever the other brand is and they don’t compare to this one.

Whole wheat slice + pan cooked “burger” + parm + ketchup loooove + cucs with salt

_MG_1906

They were on sale 2 for $6 and I had a $1 off coupon.  I bought Garden Herb + Falafel [which Chris had tonight].

_MG_1908

I LOVE that they are soy free.  I hate when products are loaded with processed soy!  You can find out why in my FAQ page!

_MG_1909

Would you take a look at their ingredient list!?

  1. organic cooked brown rice
  2. organic ground raw sunflower seeds
  3. organic carrots
  4. organic herbs + sea salt

Morningstar’s ingredient list:

VEGETABLES (MUSHROOMS, WATER CHESTNUTS, ONIONS, CARROTS, GREEN BELL PEPPERS, RED BELL PEPPERS, BLACK OLIVES), TEXTURED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, WATER FOR HYDRATION), EGG WHITES, COOKED BROWN RICE (WATER, BROWN RICE), ROLLED OATS, CORN OIL, CALCIUM CASEINATE, SOY SAUCE (WATER, SOYBEANS, SALT, WHEAT), CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF ONION POWDER, CORNSTARCH, SALT, HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (CORN, SOY AND WHEAT), AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, NATURAL FLAVORS FROM NON-MEAT SOURCES, SUGAR, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SPICES, GARLIC POWDER, DEXTROSE, JALAPEÑO PEPPER POWDER, CELERY EXTRACT.

Allergen Information:

CONTAINS SOY, WHEAT, EGG AND MILK INGREDIENTS.

This list is just way too long for my liking…..anyway, SO so so glad I found Sunshine Burgers for when I’m in a dinner pinch!

Dinner #2

Cereal + 1/2 banana + cranberries

Another 2 of my favorite products!  I really like the Pacific brand almond milk because it contains no soy lecithin, unlike “Almond Breeze” brand.  They are very similar but I prefer Pacific’s.

_MG_1910

Bananas in cereal are so tasty…I had forgotten!

_MG_1912

Goooodnight!!! [but gooodmorning to YOU!]

  • mmm…your salad looks SO yummy. But I’m pretty sure you need to outlaw the word “loaf.” ;)

I bought the plain Amazing Meal and then if I want to make it chocolate, I just add cocoa. That’s my advice for what it’s worth!

And I love Sunshine burgers too! Have you ever tried Dr. Praegger’s (sp??) from Costco?

  • In the amazing grass I have the original flavor and it isn’t bad. I first tried the stuff with the chocolate version. The chocolate version takes the “bite” away where the original version kind of stays. I need to pick up the chocolate since I’m almost done with the original kind!

Where did you buy your sunshine burgers that they were on sale?? Wholefoods?

    Ashley Reply:

Hmm, I never really notice a “bite” when I mix in so many other things. Are you just mixing with milk? Make sure you really blend it until smooth and add lots of fun fruit/yogurt/milk! YEs, they were briefly on sale at WF…SO good!

  • You are missing a superior and the best in wheatgrass if you don’t try this one
Cleanse, Alkalize and nourish! Get all three by consuming one drink and you can take it with you when you travel, go to the gym or anywhere, for a quick boost! A drink that is, organic and pure without any added man made ingredients. Cleanses your blood, alkalizes your body and is rich in nourishment with vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, minerals, and fiber.
I discovered this highly nutritional organic powdered wheatgrass where 4 packets are equivalent to one tray of wheatgrass. The packets are used upon opening, not like a jar, which every time it is opened oxidizes and loses some of its nutritional value. This product is cold dried to maintain live enzymes and nutrients when combined with water.
The roots contain cancer fighting nutrients not found in the blades. Tastes like a green tea, not nauseous or pungent. Try a free sample, simply go to http://www.BestOrganicWheatgrass.com and fill out the form on the home page. Let me know what you think!

  • I totally feel the same way about soy! It’s everywhere, just like corn! (As a devout Michael Pollan lover, I am trained to despise processed corn.) I used to rely on soy a lot (milk, tofu, veg burgers…), but I do find it hard to digest. Love the Sunshine burgers!

Glad to find someone who feels the same! <3 michael pollan!

  • GORGEOUS SIABS!!!

I like the Choco Superfood the best. It’s soooo good in greens!

I thought those burgers had onions in them? I didn’t like them when I tried it. Maybe this kind is different?
