I’ve got a question – whats your all time-fave store bought granola bar? Just any regular bar in Whole Foods or something, but which do you think is the best? There are SO MANY and I don’t have enough money to try them all!!!

My all time favorite is expensive and I’ve only eaten it twice because it is over $2 per bar!!! Eeeek. It is the brand 18 Rabbits and they only have 2 varieties. It’s is THEE best granola type bar I have had. The cheapest you will find them is online at drugstore.com The texture is perfection and the flavors are great and not overly sweet at all. It’s chewy not crunchy and just overall awesome. I guess everyone has such different “bar” tastes though but I have heard others rave about these bars. This is a tough question though…because since my interest in making granola bars with my ota.bar business I am always interested in trying new ones. A lot of people really like the “honest” bars and they may be a little cheaper? I know they have what they call the “plank” bar and that is definitely good for 2 servings. I have only had them once or twice and though they were pretty good.

I think there are different categories of bars so I’ll break it down for you..

For bars that are nut/fruit based I would definitely say KIND bars are amazing. Although one thing I hate is that they use soy lecithin in them and I try to consume the least amount of processed soy as possible. They have a ton of varieties and I have yet to have one that I didn’t like.

For the bars that are made with Dates as their main ingredient and other fruits and nuts I really like the RAW Revolution bars. I like a few Larabars, which are cheaper. Some people LOVE lb’s but I’m “so-so” with them. You might want to try a middle of the road LB to see if you like them…like Pecan Pie or Peanut Butter + Jelly. If you are by a Trader Joes they have some good deals on bars…like the PURE bar is kind of like larabars but I like them better.

For a bar with Greens added to them I like Amazing Grass bars. You have to like “earthy” flavors though ;)

Whoa…long winded answer much? If someone had 10 bars, all different, sitting in front of me…and 18 rabbits was one of them that is what I would choose. However, if they just aren’t in the budget I would say try Larabars because the ingredient list is stellar and they are filling…they don’t happen to be my fav. but a lot of people really love them.

I can also tell you a little about the bars I don’t like…I try to stay away from the bars that come packaged 6 in a box. Those tend not to be as nutrient dense. Also, I despise Kashi bars. Their ingredient lists are way too long and I think they lack flavor. I also don’t like the ThinkThin bars. I also stay away from Clif Bars and Odwalla because of their mile long ingredient list, and heavy use of processed soy and I just don’t like the flavors.

There are still more bars I haven’t tried!!

If there is a specific type of bar you like…maybe I can better direct you to the appropriate bar ;)
